Privacy policy

Your privacy matters to me. This policy explains what personal information Asiya Sanctuary collects, why I collect it, how I keep it safe, and the choices you have. Asiya Sanctuary is run by me, Nicky Charlton, and I follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What I collect

I only collect what I need to run your courses, sessions and our communication with you. Depending on how you work with me, this may include:

Contact details, such as your name, email address and phone number.
Purchase details, such as what you bought, when, and how much you paid. Card and Afterpay payments are processed securely by Stripe and Afterpay. I never see or store your full card number.
Course information, such as your progress, quiz results, journal entries, comments, and the practical assessment videos you send me.
Health information, only when you book a treatment or attend a face-to-face workshop or attunement. For example, a consultation form asking about medical conditions, medications or pregnancy, so I can keep you safe. I only collect this with your consent.
Website information, such as the pages you visit and the type of device you use, collected through cookies and similar tools.

How I collect it

Most information comes directly from you: when you enrol, fill in a form, book a session, send me an email or message, or submit an assessment. Some information is collected automatically when you use my website and course platform.

Why I use it

To give you access to your courses and support you as you learn.
To process payments and send receipts.
To give you feedback on your assessments and issue your certificates.
To provide safe treatments and face-to-face training.
To answer your questions and let you know about changes to your courses.
To send you news and offers, but only if you've agreed to receive them. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
To meet my legal, tax and insurance obligations.

Who I share it with

I don't sell or rent your personal information. I share it only with trusted services that help me run Asiya Sanctuary, and only as much as they need:

Tekmatix, my website, course and email platform.
Stripe and Afterpay, for secure payments.
My accountant, insurer or legal adviser, if needed.
Government authorities, if the law requires it.

Some of these services store information on secure servers outside Australia, including in the United States. I choose providers that take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Your assessment videos and journal entries are private between you and me. I will never share them, or use your words, photo or video in my marketing, without your written permission.

Automated decisions

I don't use computer programs to make decisions about you that could significantly affect your rights. Payment providers such as Afterpay make their own approval decisions under their own privacy policies.

Keeping your information safe

I take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. This includes using secure, password-protected platforms and keeping paper consultation forms locked away. When I no longer need your information, I securely delete or destroy it, unless the law requires me to keep it for longer.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, or ask me to correct it, by emailing [email protected]. I'll respond within 30 days. If I can't give you access for a lawful reason, I'll explain why.

Cookies

My website uses cookies to make it work properly and to understand how people use it. You can turn cookies off in your browser settings, although some parts of the website may not work as well.

Questions or concerns

If you have a question or a concern about your privacy, please email me first and I'll do my best to sort it out within 30 days. If you're not happy with my response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
